Quotes

Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date they are issued unless stated otherwise.

Changes or revisions requested during this period do not automatically extend the validity of the original quote. If the scope of work changes significantly, we may provide an updated quote.

Payment

Unless otherwise agreed, a 50% deposit is required before we begin an order. For custom work, this includes the commencement of design and development.

The remaining balance is due before the finished item is collected or dispatched.

Work will not begin until the required deposit has been received.

Custom Orders & Design Changes

Many of our products are designed and made specifically for each customer.

We are happy to consider changes during the design and manufacturing process, although what can be changed will depend on how far the project has progressed.

We recommend requesting any changes as early as possible. Changes made after a design has been approved or manufacturing has begun may result in additional design, material or machining costs and may extend the expected completion date.

Where practical, we will discuss any significant additional costs with you before proceeding.

The Nature of Timber

Timber is a natural material, and every piece is different. Variations in colour, grain, knots, figure and other natural characteristics are part of what makes each piece unique.

We cannot guarantee that timber will exactly match samples, photographs or other pieces of the same species.

Timber naturally absorbs and releases moisture as its environment changes. As a result, it can expand, contract and move over time. Minor checking, small cracks and movement can occur as timber adjusts to seasonal changes in temperature and humidity.

To help protect your product, we recommend avoiding:

• Areas of consistently high humidity
• Rapid or extreme changes in temperature
• Prolonged direct sunlight
• Placement directly beside heaters, fireplaces or other strong heat sources
• Exposure to standing or flood water

Natural timber movement and characteristics that are reasonably expected from solid timber are not considered defects in workmanship.

Reclaimed Timber

Products made from reclaimed or salvaged timber will often retain evidence of their previous life.

This may include old nail or screw holes, staining, weathering, historical splits, marks, colour variation and other imperfections within the timber.

Where appropriate, these features may be retained as part of the character of the finished piece or repaired and filled to create a more even finish.

By choosing reclaimed timber, you acknowledge and accept that these variations and historical features form part of the material and make each finished piece unique.

Delivery & Collection

Collection can be arranged directly from Design Eye. We can also assist with organising delivery throughout New Zealand where practical.

Packaging, crating or other additional protection required for transport may incur an additional charge depending on the size and nature of the item.

Where Design Eye arranges delivery, please let us know as soon as possible if an item arrives damaged so we can work with the carrier to resolve the issue.

If you arrange your own freight company or carrier, we recommend confirming that suitable protection and insurance are included for the journey. Large timber furniture can be heavy and difficult to transport, so an experienced furniture carrier is recommended.

Please inspect your item as soon as practical after delivery and contact us promptly if you believe it has been damaged in transit.

Returns & Change of Mind

Please choose carefully before placing an order.

We do not normally offer refunds or exchanges simply because you have changed your mind, particularly for custom-made or personalised products.

For existing products available through our shop, we encourage customers to view an item before purchasing where practical.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or any other rights that cannot legally be excluded.

We build our product with the intention that it will be enjoyed for many years.

Natural checking, minor cracking, grain variation, colour variation and timber movement are not automatically considered structural defects.
